This depends on your individual cover with your health insurance provider. The admissions and assessment co-ordinator will arrange a fund check with your health insurer, to obtain information of any potential out of pocket expenses to be paid by you.

Accommodation consists of:

• Single rooms with ensuites
• Shared rooms

Your accommodation will be determined by availability of rooms. If sharing, you will share a room with a person of the same gender. DVA patients will be admitted to shared rooms under our agreement with the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Belmont Private Hospital is an authorised Mental Health Service under the Queensland Mental Health Act 2000. The hospital provides treatment for most general psychiatric disorders and more specific disorders. Our treatment units, programs and key services include:

• Generalised Psychiatric Treatment Unit
• Brisbane Centre for Post-natal Disorders
• Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Unit
• Outreach Community Service
• Trauma and Dissociation Unit
• Dual Diagnosis Rubicon Program

A letter of referral from your doctor will be required. The admissions & assessment co-ordinator will conduct an over-the-phone assessment and obtain your health fund details. Following assessment and a health fund check, the admissions and assessment co-ordinator will discuss your case with one of the hospital's accredited psychiatrists. Following approval for admission, the admissions & assessment co-ordinator will contact you to arrange admission.

Yes. A referral is required from your treating general practitioner or specialist.

Yes. General, non urgent admissions are arranged during the hospital's business hours which are Monday to Friday, 8 am-5.30 pm, however patients can be admitted out of hours by arrangement.

This hospital does not have an Emergency Department.

No. As a general rule we don't recommend that patients drive themselves to hospital for treatment or while undergoing treatment. Please arrange a family member or friend to bring you to hospital. Note that we also have limited on-site parking available. 

For further information about driving while undergoing treatment, speak to your treating psychiatrist.

Yes. However, it's important to turn your mobile off while participating in the group activities. 

If you are admitted as an inpatients, you will also need to turn your mobile phones off from 8 pm to avoid disturbing other patients. You'll also be provided with your own bedside phone.

At Belmont Private Hospital local calls are free. Patients can purchase phone cards to make mobile, long distance (STD) and international (ISD) calls.

These cards can be purchased from reception between 8 am and 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Yes. However, please note that all valuables are brought in at your own risk. Electrical appliances must be checked by the hospital maintenance department before being used. Appliance compliance checks only occur between Monday and Friday.

Yes. You can bring these things with you, particularly if they will help you feel more comfortable.

Your length of stay is determined by your individual need and as recommended by your treating psychiatrist.

You'll need to bring:

• Letter of referral
• All medications you are currently prescribed and any repeat scripts
• Medicare and/or private health insurance cards
• Casual comfortable day clothes
• Comfortable footwear
• Clothing and footwear suitable for exercise and walks
• Nightwear (for inpatients)
• Personal toiletries

The admissions and assessment co-ordinator will advise you of any other requirements

Yes. Our catering staff will organise a menu for your family member if they'd like to join you. 

Visitor meal vouchers can be purchased at front reception. Please give as much notice as possible so our catering department can ensure you receive your choice of meal.

Leave will be determined as part of your treatment plan which is decided in conjunction with your treating psychiatrist and in accordance with hospital policy.

Belmont Private Hospital provides active treatment, including individual and group programs. You'll be encouraged to participate in lectures and group therapy sessions. These are an important component to the program and provide an opportunity to explore emotional and behavioural patterns as well as education about your disorder.

Yes. Visiting hours are 10 am-8 pm daily.

You may also have visitors outside of these hours however we don't recommended you have visitors during group program times.
